Wonder Woman Trailer and Sonic The Hedgehog Film

Film Chat this week, we talk about, the new Wonder Woman trailer and the Sonic The Hedgehog movie. With my quirky side notes and thoughts added in for good measure. Which includes talking about my childhood crush on Alvin, from Alvin and the Chipmunks.

What I've seen in the new Wonder Woman trailer so far. I like what it can bring to the DC cinematic universe. I wasn't a fan of Batman v Superman (I had big hopes). Though the trailer was amazing - Suicide Squad didn't live up to it's potential. That's where I hope Wonder Woman fills my DC void. Patty Jenkins, is the director (yay girl power) and Gal Gadot looks like she's giving her all. So, please DC let this be the start of a great cinematic universe.

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been in development since 2014. Recently production got back up and rolling with the addition of Tim Miller. Who was going to Direct the sequel to Deadpool. Well, after creative differences with Ryan Reynolds, he's jumped ship. He's now going to Executive Produce Sonic. Which follows the character from the video game series. This film will be a mixture live action CGI hybrid. Which I can only hope means more "Jungle Book" and less "Smurfs." I loved this character growing up. Wouldn't mind seeing the film take on Sonic, Knuckles and Tails.

Cute LA had a chance to interview female entrepreneur Emily Webb. Who founded MyLücke App. An on demand parking marketplace that makes it easier for drivers to find parking spots. Whether looking for hourly, daily, weekly or monthly parking. A heaven sent for anyone that lives the city lifestyle. The MyLücke app allows people to make extra income from under utilized parking spots. This is ideal for anyone that lives in a bustling area. Think about the festivals, farmer's markets, events etc. that you've attended. I'm not the only one who circles the neighborhood trying to find a damn parking spot. Wishing I could park in someone's driveway and throw them cash.  MyLücke makes that dream a reality, but more classy. Believe me, in Los Angeles, this is a dream.

Excited, to have a woman in tech, share her insight on starting her own appRead on to learn more about Emily Webb and MyLücke App:

// What's the inspiration behind MyLücke? //

The inspiration to start a private parking marketplace fostered from my experience as a new Angeleno, as I encountered the worst parking problems I’ve ever experienced. There is proof that we have an abundance of parking spaces in Los Angeles, just walk through residential areas & business districts, and look around. Vacant parking is everywhere, which is when I realized the solution to parking problems is a matter of innovating the parking industry into a share economy.

MyLucke App makes finding parking easy

// What separates MyLücke from similar companies? //

We pay out 100% of the rate Renters set for their spaces, whereas other share economy revenue models are typically a 80/20 split. We also offer Parkers the flexibility of extending their reservation from the app, which is convenient and tech savvy! Our backend infrastructure is incredibly solid and we are ready to scale at any moment.

// What were the first steps in creating MyLücke? //

Market research, due diligence on developers & development firms, trademark and patentability search, and legal aspects of setting up the company.

// What are the most difficult & most rewarding aspects of entrepreneurship? //

The most difficult aspect of being an entrepreneur is the constant drive to over achieve when that doesn’t necessarily equate to immediate results. Time, patience and strategic positioning are vital aspects to understanding the foundation for building a business. The most rewarding aspect is being able to do what I love, provide a solution to a universal problem by building the best company I can build, and challenge myself every day through perseverance, high expectations and inner strength.

MyLucke Founder Emily Webb Quote

// What advice do you have for someone creating their own tech start up? //

Take the time to conduct due diligence on developers and engineers, because they are the core of a tech company. A vision will come to life with suitable programmers, so tread lightly when choosing a development team and make sure the right people are on the bus! Additionally, protect your Intellectual Property!

Tomb Raider Reboot

Film Chat this week, we talk about, The TOMB RAIDER REBOOT. With my quirky side notes and thoughts added in for good measure. This week I do many horrible British accents. See if you can count them all!

Tomb Raider was a video game that came out in 1996. It starred Lara Croft as the kick as archeologist adventurer. In 2001 a film starring Angelina Jolie came out. It did great and a sequel hit the scene in 2003. After these two films, Angelina Jolie was over playing Lara Croft.

Fast forward to 2016 a Tomb Raider reboot is in the works. It's based on the rebooted 2013 video game. In this video game Lara Croft is embarking on her first adventure as a fresh faced 21 year old. Then shit hits the fan and she has to embrace her inner bad bitch. After months of auditions and rumored casting choices. Alicia Vikander has secured the role of Lara Croft.

Vegan Gingerbread Donuts + Maple Glaze {RECIPE}

Recently became Vegan. In this journey I've noticed a lack of what my greedy ass craves, sweets. I decided to fill this void myself. So I'm on a journey to bake Vegan versions of my favorite desserts and candies.  For my first cooking experience on YouTube, I tackled my beloved donuts. Watch the video below to learn how to make Vegan Gingerbread Donuts with Ginger Maple Glaze.

(Print the Recipe!)

Notes: this recipe makes about 12 baked donuts, and it only takes about 30 minutes in total to throw together.

Donut Ingredients:

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 1 ¾ cup flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ½ tsp ground ginger

  • ¼ tsp ground nutmeg

  • ¼ tsp ground cloves

  • Pinch of all spice

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 1/4 cup oil - (I used coconut)

  • 1 tbsp vinegar (I used apple cider)

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 cup lukewarm non-dairy milk or water (I used almond milk)

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees and oil the donut pans with vegan butter, oil, or spray. I use coconut oil or vegan butter.

In a large bowl mix together the dry ingredients - flour, baking soda, baking powder, spices, and salt).

In a medium bowl slowly whisk together the wet ingredients sugar, milk, vanilla and oil.

Create a large well in the dry ingredients, then slowly pour the wet ingredients into it. Whisk until well combined.

Fill a pastry bag or plastic ziplock bag {cut the end} with the batter and distribute it evenly into the donut pans. You can also just scoop the batter into each donut hole. Til each is about 2/3 full. Makes it easier if you place the bag inside a tall cup when placing batter into it. Bake for 10-13 minutes, remove from the oven. Let sit in tray for 5 minutes then pop the donuts out of the pan and let cool on a rack.

Ginger Maple Glaze Ingredients:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • ¼ tsp ground ginger

  • 1-2 tbsp water or milk (I used almond milk)

In a small bowl. Mix together powdered sugar, maple syrup and ginger. Add milk one tsp at a time until desired consistency.

Once donuts are cooled, dip each one into the glaze. Set on wire rack and repeat until all donuts are complete.
