Apple Fritters with Maple Glaze

Tiffy Diamond Meerkat Donut Stream

Every Sunday, I host the live stream, "Donuts & Chillin," through Meerkat. This live stream is full of fun, laughs and the occasional shot of tequila. I read books and research every donut before I make it. Mixing and matching to find a donut that fits what I'm, or my viewers, are craving.

One of my friends and loyal meerkat viewer, @Cakey_Poppins sent me a set of amazing gold mixing bowls for my stream.  I didn't have mixing bowls and was so excited for this upgrade to my live stream show. Before these, the struggle was real, using anything I could for a bowl. As a thank you, I included her name as a sign throughout my stream for others to follow her on social media.

Don't miss the "Donuts & Chillin" meerkat stream, every Sunday. Follow @Tiffy4u on Meerkat to join in on the weekly fun. You can also watch through my website,

Apple Fritters with Maple Glaze {Print This Shit!}

Notes: this recipe makes 8 - 10 apple fritters, and it only takes about 45 minutes in total to make. For the apples I used one tart (granny smith) and one sweet (red delicious). However, I feel you can use any type of apples you desire. If you want to have a tart and sweet taste then use both, if you're not a fan of both - stick with sweet apples.

Donuts Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 3 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 large eggs (room temperature)

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

  • 2/3 cup whole milk

  • 1  1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted)

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil

  • Vegetable oil for frying

  • 2 1/2 cups apples - peeled and cored cut into chunks

Maple Glaze Ingredients

  • 1-2 cups confectioners sugar

  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup

  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

  • 1 tablespoon butter soft

  • warm milk or water as needed

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  1. Whisk together the dry ingredients - flour, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in small bowl. Then, whisk together the wet ingredients - eggs, milk, melted butter, 1 1/2 tablespoons oil. Fold in the dry ingredients until you see a few streaks of remaining flour. Gently fold in the apple chunks.

  2. Line a baking sheet with paper towels. Heat at least 3 inches of oil in a deep pot or fryer (I use a fryer). The oil temperature should be 350 - 355 degrees. When the oil is hot enough use an ice cream scoop and a large spoon. Scoop the dough on the large spoon and then flatten it a bit before dropping it into the oil. You don't want the dough to be spherical. Fry a few at a time, to not overcrowd. Fry 1 minute and 40 seconds or until golden brown, then flip over and fry the other side for 1 minute and 40 seconds. Using a slotted spoon or tongs, remove each fritter and drain thoroughly on the baking sheet lined with paper towels. Repeat with all batter.

  3. Glaze: In a medium bowl whisk together confectioners sugar, maple syrup, vanilla extract, butter and cinnamon. If the glaze is too thick, add milk or water until your desired consistency.

  4. Dip the fritters into the glaze and enjoy immediately!
